Dr. Penelope Leggott<\/h3>\n

Dr. Penelope Leggott has been part of the Kulshan team since December 1993.\u00a0 \u00a0She currently works two days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).\u00a0 \u00a0She believes strongly in the combination of an academic career and clinical dentistry as it allows for better understanding evidence basis for treatment and helps her to stay up on new developments.\u00a0 \u00a0She enjoys looking after children and their developing teeth and getting to develop relationships with families.<\/p>\n

She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine<\/strong> from the University of Bristol<\/strong> in England.\u00a0 \u00a0She worked in a general practice office and also with the Gloucestershire school district.\u00a0 \u00a0 She moved to Vancouver B.C. and after passing the dental licensing examination worked in a pediatric dental office.\u00a0 This experience led her to pursue specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Illinois<\/strong> at Chicago.\u00a0 She obtained her Masters Degree<\/strong> and Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry<\/strong>.\u00a0 She became a full time faculty member<\/strong> at the University of California at San Francisco<\/strong> and was awarded tenure.\u00a0 \u00a0In addition to teaching, research and patient care, Dr. Leggott obtained her California Dental License<\/strong> and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry<\/strong>.\u00a0 She was subsequently elected to the Board of the College of Diplomates<\/strong> for 5 years and President for 1 year.<\/p>\n

Dr. Leggott was Department Chair of Pediatric Dentistry <\/strong>at The University of British Columbia<\/strong> in Vancouver B.C. and maintained a clinical practice outside of the University environment.\u00a0 She was subsequently recruited to The University of Washington<\/strong> as an Associate Dean<\/strong> and she and Dr. Peter Domoto (Chair of Pediatric Dentistry) began the nationally recognized Graduate Program<\/strong> in Pediatric Dentistry.<\/strong>\u00a0 This program successfully competed for a Maternal Child Health Leadership Training Grant in Pediatric Dentistry which it held at UW for 13 years.\u00a0 Dr. Leggott is now Professor Emeritus<\/strong> at The University of Washington<\/strong> and looks forward every week to her days at Kulshan Pediatric Dentistry.<\/p>\n

She enjoys equestrian activities with her horse, Cruiser, and she loves to garden, hike and cook.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
